When, this year, we heard new Peak at the Munich High End Audio show, we were knocked out by the performance. All the beauty of the original models we used to love was there, but with so much more dynamic range, time focus, and reality. Literally having to repeatedly revisit their room to re-experience the beautiful music being produced. We were hooked.
Having read Roy Gregory’s review of the Sinfonia speakers we knew were not alone in our experience.
So 15 years after offering Peak Consult speakers, what had happened? Well, the company has been bought by two business partners Lennart Asbjørn, and Wilfried Ehrenholz (previously founder and owner of Dynaudio loudspeakers).
So, when Wilfred decided to “retire” from the business of making high quality loudspeakers, what else could he do…. but put his mind to making the ultimate loudspeakers? When the opportunity came along to purchase Peak Consult and utilize the unique cabinet manufacturing methods, whilst bringing in class leading drive unit technology and crossover techniques, it was one that was too good to miss. For Wilfried, PEAK can best be described as a pure passion project without the boundaries, compromises and limitations of running a large corporate global company.
We now have a range of three models from Peak loudspeakers, where performance, through cost no object components, and attention to every detail are the only parameters influencing the design. Where music is the end result.
